The pricing earthquake: AI coding tools pricing has converged. $20/month is the new standard, $200/month for power users, and free tiers are getting thinner. Windsurf just overhauled from credits to quotas and hiked Pro by 33%.
Key insight: Cursor and Windsurf both charge $20/month for Pro and $200/month for their top individual plan; for teams, Cursor is $40/user/month and Windsurf $80/month plus $40 per seat. GitHub Copilot remains the cheapest paid option at $10/mo. Open-source tools (Cline, Aider) remain fully free with BYO API keys.

Hobby is the free plan: no credit card, limited Agent requests, Composer access — Cursor publishes no completion or request figure for it. Paid: Pro $20/mo, Pro+ $60/mo (3x Pro's Agent limits), Ultra $200/mo (20x), Teams $40/user/mo, Enterprise custom.
Renamed Devin Desktop by Cognition. Free: a light agent quota, limited models, unlimited inline edits and Tab completions. Paid: Pro $20/mo, Max $200/mo, Teams $80/mo plus $40 per dev seat. Credits were replaced by daily and weekly quotas in March 2026; subscribers on the old $15/mo Pro price keep it.
