Price adjustments in 2026
Hetzner raised cloud prices twice in 2026, and the second round changed the lineup as well as the numbers. The April 1 adjustment applied to all regions and all customers, new and existing. The June 15 adjustment applies only to new orders and rescales — existing server contracts keep their terms — and it came with a standardization that renamed the plans.
Every shared-vCPU plan is currently unavailable. All 8 plans in the Cost-Optimized line, Intel and Arm alike, are listed on hetzner.com with a price and marked not available. The cheapest plan a reader can actually order is CPX12 at €11.99/mo (1 vCPU, 2 GB). A price for a plan nobody can buy is not an entry price.
The root cause is hardware costs. DRAM prices surged 171% year-over-year, NAND flash roughly doubled, and AI infrastructure buildout consumed the supply that smaller operators depend on. Hetzner's own statements cite increased procurement costs for key hardware components. The same pressure moved OVHcloud and Netcup.
All 25 Hetzner Cloud plans, with the monthly price and the availability hetzner.com showed on 2026-09-04. EU prices are the Falkenstein, Helsinki and Nuremberg figure; the US rows are Ashburn and Hillsboro, which are the only datacentres those plans are offered in. Singapore is priced higher again and is not listed here.

2. What the April 1 Adjustment Did
The April 1, 2026 round is the one this page was first written about. It applied to all regions and all customers, new and existing, with no grandfathering. These are historical figures for that event, not current prices — for what a plan costs now, use the table above.

The 128 GB RAM add-on at +575% was the largest single move — from €45.88 to €264.00 — driven directly by the DRAM shortage. An AX102 dedicated server with 128 GB built in cost €124 at the time, so the add-on cost more than twice the bundled memory. Of the products in this table, the load balancer is the one we have re-read since: LB11 is still €7.49, and load balancers were explicitly excluded from the June round.
3. Why Prices Rose
The short answer: AI is eating the world's memory supply.
DRAM prices surged 171% YoY — AI training and inference clusters consume massive amounts of HBM and DDR5, driving up prices for everyone
NAND flash prices roughly doubled — NVMe SSDs used in cloud servers were hit by the same AI-driven supply crunch
Hard drives sold out for the year — AI data storage demand consumed available supply
EU lacks domestic DRAM manufacturing — European providers like Hetzner are fully dependent on Asian semiconductor supply chains, with no buffer against global price shocks
Hetzner's official statement cites "significantly increased procurement costs for key hardware components" as the driver. This is an industry-wide phenomenon, not a Hetzner-specific decision.
The two rounds have different scopes, and the difference changes what a reader should do about them:
April 1 — everyone
All new orders and all existing servers moved to the new prices. No opt-out, no freeze period, no legacy rates.
June 15 — new orders and rescales
Existing server contracts keep their terms and stay active. You pay the June prices when you order a new server or rescale one you already run.
All regions, unequally
Germany, Finland, US and Singapore. Singapore is the most expensive on every line that is offered there — CCX13 is €54.49 against €43.49 in the EU.
Excluded from June
Server Auction, IPs, storage products, Load Balancers, Volumes, Snapshots and Object Storage were all named as unaffected by the June round.
5. Impact Assessment
How much more you pay depends on your workload size, and on whether you are starting something new. The two figures below the first card are April-round estimates for a fleet that moved to the new prices in one step; the June round only reaches you when you order or rescale.
LOWHobby Projects & Side Projects
If you already run a small server, June left it alone — you are on your existing contract at your existing price. Starting one now is the expensive case: the cheapest orderable plan is CPX12 at €11.99/mo for 1 vCPU and 2 GB, and the shared-vCPU line you would once have reached for cannot be ordered at all.
MEDIUMSmall Teams & Startups
3-5 cloud servers + load balancer + storage: +€15-30/mo (€180-360/yr). Worth reviewing your stack but likely not worth migrating — the switching cost exceeds the savings.
HIGHProduction Workloads & Memory-Heavy Apps
Dedicated servers with RAM add-ons, US/SG object storage, large server fleets: +€50-200/mo or more. The 575% memory add-on increase alone can add €200+/mo for memory-intensive workloads. Consider dedicated servers (where RAM is bundled) or auction servers.
6. Alternatives Comparison
How does the cheapest Hetzner plan you can order compare to the competition? The DigitalOcean and OVHcloud rows come from our own change records; the Vultr and Linode rows were verified in March 2026 and we have not re-read them, which is marked in the table rather than hidden. No free tier for new accounts — 2 hrs runtime or 7-day trial
Bottom line: On entry price, Hetzner is no longer the cheap option. CPX12 at €11.99 is above DigitalOcean's $4 Basic Droplet and Vultr's and Linode's $5 tiers, and the plans that used to sit below them cannot be ordered. Hetzner's case now rests on what you get per euro further up the range — CCX13 buys 2 dedicated vCPUs and 8 GB for €43.49. Oracle Cloud's Always Free tier remains the only option here that costs nothing.

7. Industry Context
Hetzner is not an outlier — the entire European hosting market repriced through 2026.
OVHcloud: VPS-1 rose from $4.90 to $7.60 on April 1, 2026, a 55% increase, with VPS-4 up 67%. Public Cloud, Private Cloud and Bare Metal rose 9-11% for new deployments. Same root cause — DRAM and component costs.
Netcup: Also raised prices. Community reports increases across VPS and dedicated server lines.
US cloud providers: Already priced 3-6x higher than Hetzner. AWS, GCP, and Azure haven't announced increases yet, but their hardware costs are rising too — they have more margin to absorb it.
The AI paradox: AI infrastructure buildout is making hardware more expensive for everyone. The companies building AI consume the supply that smaller operations depend on. As one HN commenter put it: "The AI bubble is pricing out smaller operations."
Community reaction at the time of the April round (from Hacker News discussion): "Even after +30-50%, Hetzner is still the cheapest option. The real story is the entire hosting market repricing due to AI-driven hardware costs." That was written before the June round and before the shared-vCPU line went unavailable; the table in section 1 is what to check it against.
8. Optimization Strategies
If you are staying with Hetzner, here is how to minimize the impact:
Keep the servers you have
June applies to new orders and rescales. An existing contract keeps its terms, so rescaling a running server is a repricing event — moving up a size and moving back down does not restore the old rate.
Use Auction Servers
The Server Auction was excluded from the June round and rose about 3% in April. It offers dedicated hardware at discounted rates, and it is the line least moved by either adjustment.
Bundle RAM in Dedicated Servers
After April, an AX102 with 128 GB RAM cost €124/mo while the same RAM as an add-on cost €264/mo. Choose servers with the memory you need built in.
The Arm line is not an escape route
CAX used to undercut Intel and AMD at the same specs. All four CAX plans are marked not available today, alongside all four CX plans, so it is not somewhere to move a workload to right now.
